Gill Family Football Contest
Tie Breaking Rules

Individual Contest

Final standings are based on your adjusted score, (actual score minus two "throw away" scores). The following tie-breakers will be used where necessary.

1. The first tie-breaker is your actual score.

2. If there is still a tie between two players, your actual total score minus your lowest throw-away score is considered.

This means the higher of your two throw-away scores is added back into your adjusted total. This is the score that you would have achieved if we only threw away one week instead of two.

3. Finally, if there is still a tie between two players, the tie will be broken by comparing the head to head scores of the two players each week.

This becomes a best of seventeen. The player who scored highest (among the two) the most weeks wins.

Team Contest

Final standings are based on actual scores. "Throw Away" scores ARE NOT subtracted! Since only the 1st Place team wins a prize, that's the only tie that needs to be broken.

1. The first tie-breaker is a comparison of the head to head scores of ALL TIED TEAMS each week.

This becomes a best of seventeen. The team which scored highest (among all teams tied for 1st place) the most weeks wins.

2. If there is still a tie between 2 or more teams, the total scores of the 4th place member of each tied team are compared.

The scores from the last place member of each tied team are compared. The highest total score wins.

3. If there is still a tie, the team that scored top score among ALL TEAMS for the most weeks wins.

Like #1, this becomes best of 17 but based on the number of times your team scored the highest overall score against ALL TEAMS.
